Was Judas jealous of Jesus? Leaving that open for discussion, but ever since singing the part of Judas in Godspell at St. Bart's in 2023, I have wanted to sing this song, and finally got my chance to sing "Beautiful City" from the 2012 Godspell Broadway revival at the 10am service at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Poway CA, June 16, 2024, accompanied by Dr. John-Luke Addison.

Thanks! It was not as daunting as you might think. My director told me to think of just an everyday father relating to his children for most of it. This number is a bit more majestic, though, as you point out :)

If you look at the band score it is noted as glockenspiel not bells in this song. The technical name for the instrument is glockenspiel orchestra bells. Some composers choose to note the music for "glockenspiel" and other for "bells".

The ensemble as a whole performs this song very well. The glockenspiel player need to work on tone quality, especially at the beginning of the song as almost all the notes were harsh.
